Critter Update

Folks, It's been a while since we have had time to post here. We have been busy finding a new home for Jackson the little terrier mix as his family moved into a place that was large enough for them, but refused to allow pets. He found a great new home with an older couple and they spoil him rotten. We have been dealing with the URI (upper respiratory infection ) which our kitties caught from a kitty we had boarded here temporarily. It seems to be almost over then another kitty will begin to get ill. Even though they had previously been done with it. Very frustrating. We are doing spring cleaning and repairs that we had waited to do until better weather. We love the gifts we have received from our Amazon wishlist and the critters are very thankful that folks are thinking of them. We are getting ready to do a Costco run for major cat litter purchasing. It is amazing how much cat litter we actually use here with all the kitties. Well, putting this trip off won't make it happen so we should close for now so we can get the litter trip over with. We will try to post again soon. |

We are so thankful to all who have sent items from our Amazon Wishlist. It has helped out so much. Our outside ferals really appreciated getting the Whiskas cat food. The Big Boy loved his beautiful crate pad which helped keep him warm when he is sleeping in his crate. He loves his crate, his own private den. The kitties all loved their new beds, They now all have beds o no more fighting over them. Well. the huge kitties still try to fight over the gray bed as there is only one. We also have already used the ramp for the Big Dog and just received the case for it as well. Yay, easier o store that way. We have received a few more wonderful gifts and apologize for not mentioning everything here. We just finished all the cat box cleaning and added new litter, got behind schedule as our washing machine is on the fritz so had to schlep all of the bedding to be cleaned to the local laundry mat. What an ordeal. Well, it is quite late and the critters will be expecting their breakfast by six in the morning. They have a schedule and expect their food on time. A quick thank you to everyone who has helped with Fatman and his veterinary needs by donating or sharing. Also thank you to all who are helping to network Moochie he needs a new home so badly. Will post again when we have a spare second. |

Folks, we made it through the Holidays and things have gotten a bit less hectic around here. We are making our greeting cards for Valentine's Day now. Please be sure to order soon so we can be sure to get yours finished and mailed in time. The outside feral kitties are laying low during the cold nights and enjoying the sunny days. Fortunately the really cold spell has ended for now. That should give our heating bills a chance to go down some. We have received some wonderful gifts from our Wishlist on Amazon and we have thanked everyone right next to the items they were kind enough to purchase for our critters. It is so helpful to have help with some of the items we need. Hope everyone is having a blessed New Year so far. |
Holiday Fast Approaching Way Too Fast

Folks, we are trying to finish and mail our final Christmas card orders and should have them all mailed by tomorrow. We were ahead of things until the Disgruntled Donor issue and the ensuing haters with their constant disruptive posts and hateful comments on our Facebook page. We are still having to address this issue and to remove and or block the trolls. This coupled with our trying to follow up on our paperwork for our 501(c)3 has taken a huge amount of our time. Our State has finally gotten our information added to their website apparently. Sure took them a while. We still have all the related everyday tasks to address and then we are also trying to add photos and such to our two websites to keep them current and to include more photos as we can find, copy, and scan them. It is all a bit daunting right now. So, hope you all are well and getting ready for your Christmas Holiday. We will keep you updated. |

We are still dealing with the Upper Respiratory Infection being passed around. However, kitties are on the mend. Big Boy is eating rice with boiled chicken breast without skin until his upset tummy is better. He is doing better and we are adding dry kibble to this for him. Our one Disgruntled Donor is still able to cause us some grief by using dormant or false Facebook profiles to write negative reviews. Thereby causing our star rating on our Facebook page to be lower. Love cyber bullies who use the internet to bully you anonymously. Which surprisingly many people believe. Our loyal fans and supporters are still giving us plenty of support and we are so grateful for that . We are able to help lots of smaller rescues by cross posting their posts on our Facebook page where we reach many people they may not be able to. My sis has been helping us try to keep our site updated and she is trying to find time to help us scan some of the many actual photos we have into digital format so they can be posted on our website. It is a full time job to keep that current sometimes. We are behind on that as our focus is always the animals. So, we all survived Thanksgiving and are working on Christmas now. Must go tend to critters but will try to post again soon. |
Why did I choose rescue ??? :Love the critters, but...

Well, today is one of those trial days when you question your sanity for deciding you wanted to rescue. Our kitties had finally gotten over the Upper Respiratory Infection they had been passing around for months. Seemed like forever when we were fighting it. We took in two little kitties one a bottle baby. We discovered that Bella had a URI and she passed it onto our Senior kitties who in turn shared it with the other cats. So, we got the two babies adopted both Dixie and Bella after they got well and a bit older. Now Maggie is sick and because she already has cancer her resistance to any illness is non existent. So, the kitties are all sneezing, coughing and occasionally throwing up hairballs. Oh, joy more laundry. Then, the big dog got sick. He has a very sensitive stomach and as we have not had rain for a while and there is apparently a bit of thunder he decided that was enough for him to become very upset. Yes, he is sometimes a bit neurotic. So, he threw up then had an accident in the house. More laundry with diarrhea from him everywhere. Usually he is real good about letting us know when he wants out, but when upset he can't seem to help himself. That was just the start of the day. Then we wash the floor and change the puppy pad that Kissee Kat our blind kitty uses. Then clean out ten cat litter boxes and wash all the food and water bowls. Now, back to the several loads of laundry to be done. In the meantime we are filling up clean water bowls and food bowls for everyone. I love them all, but sometimes they sure do provide a full time job around here. |

Folks, our donations are way down after the problems we had with the one "Disgruntled Donor." We must be doing good to only have one and he got his money refunded. We just went over our website and it is all explained well exactly who and what we do. We have reread our Facebook about section and that information is also clear and concise. We do not post our physical address as when we did we had a huge problem with people just dropping off animals without our knowledge. We are a rescue and sanctuary and while we have fosters in many locations we are very careful about the animals we add to our group here as they all must get along. We cross post many other shelters and rescue organizations on our Facebook page so that with our large audience we can help smaller organizations with less exposure get the attention they need to get their animals forever homes. We are adding more photos to our adopted section as we have time to scan photos into digital form so they can be posted. We are working with our Seniors and we are hoping to get them to allow us to post some of their photos. As a group they are a bit uncomfortable having their photos online for public display. Their pets photos not so much. For the Seniors who agree we will begin a Section on our website which will show some of those we assist. We have a inquiry into the state for them to try to locate our previously filed paperwork. Then we will begin to unravel the mystery of where we are listed. Originally our family supported our rescue efforts themselves, but we decided to get into the digital age by creating a website and all the attendant things including acquiring our non profit status. It has been a daunting task which we thought was completed, but guess there is still a bit more to do. We are pretty proud of our websites. We enjoy making the greeting cards and are looking for other products we can create to add to our shop in the future. |

Folks, just a quick and very heartfelt thank you for all the support we have received since that TV attack. We have worked very hard to develop our websites, card business, and even our Facebook pages. We have also paid out a lot of money, (as far as we are concerned), to get all of our paperwork in order. We will pursue this with the folks we had take care of it initially and post updates as we unravel the mystery of where the filed paperwork has gone to. We put a lot of our own money and almost all of our time into our rescue work. We cross post on our Facebook page as we have a large audience and can get the word out to many folks about animals in immediate danger. On our website we post information and some photos of the many animals we have helped and worked with over the years, Please be aware that the actual photos often need to be scanned from the original photo to be published so we are way behind in getting that done. We also have some correspondence from folks to scan and post which we are also behind on getting done. We are working on that though and updating as often as we can. Our website is a work in progress. We do this for the love of the critters and definitely not for the money as there is always very little of that. It is a great deal of work to keep up with all of this and add in this attack and we now have even more to have to deal with. Will post a follow up soon. |

It is amazing how one disgruntled person, who asked for a return of his donation over two months after donating and who was immediately given his refund despite our not being legally obligated to do so can do so much harm. We are trying to figure out what the state has done with our paperwork as we have paid out a great deal of money to get our 501(c) 3 status completed. While this is not necessary to be a non profit it does give our donors the ability to write off their donations on their taxes. We actually do not make enough to require this for any other reason. This same person was able to accomplish what we could not do despite many months of pleading with various entities to do. We had a different story we wanted them to address. They managed to secure a TV station to attack us prior to contacting us and asking for our verification of the facts and our side of the story. Upon arriving home tonight I was met with a TV reporter and a cameraman who had a very bright light he shone in my eyes. The began asking questions rapidly and asking for paperwork and documentation of things I was not even aware of. We had returned Disgruntled Donors money several weeks ago and thought that would be the end of things. They also asked some questions based on partial truths told them by our local shelter which again was far from the entire truth. The photo on our page the person referred to was on our Facebook page and was a cross post as many rescues and shelters do for each other. We always include the information of the original poster so that they can receive the help they are looking for. We post our rescued animals and adopted animals on our website. The sick/injured cat that we were accused of denying care to was a very wild feral kitty who we were giving what care he would allow. He was receiving antibiotics in wet food and that took some doing to get him to accept that. We had tried to trap him several times, but he was very wild and old enough to not trust people at all. We were trying to get him tame enough to eventually get him to the veterinary for care. After the local shelter demanding we trap/ catch him immediately he was sacred enough to not eat the food with the antibiotics and to pretty much disappear into the nearby fields where he had come from. This is the kitty I was fined for denying care to. There is more to the story, but that is a summation of the facts that the animal shelter person was referring to. As I told the reporter if they wanted to sit down with me off camera first I would present all of the answers to his rapid fire questions. In a meeting scheduled at a reasonable time so I could be prepared to present documentation for whatever he was asking. I said this on camera, but it did not get into their story. For the record I am Asperger's / Autistic and could never do a surprise interview no matter what the topic and to have someone walk up to me at my truck and stick a microphone in my face along with a camera was beyond terrifying. Then add in rapid fire questions without any knowledge of what they would be so I could answer them was impossible to deal with. So, folks, that is the rest of the story. Will post more when we figure out what the state did with their paperwork with regard to our application and such. |
Finally a little time to post

We finally have a few seconds to add a short post here. Not sure if anyone reads these. We are still dealing with the Upper Respiratory Infection. Seems like we just about get all the kitties healthy and one of them starts to get it again. After cleaning six cat boxes, washing lots of pet bedding, cleaning ten water bowls, and fifteen food bowls we are pretty caught up for the past week. Garbage goes out tonight too. Seems like one is always feeding or cleaning something. We are getting set up to start getting our card orders ready for the upcoming Holidays and hope to get many orders this year, Last year was a bit slow, but we have great hopes for this year. Well, there is meowing going on so must run see what is up with that. Will try to find a second to post soon. |
