We have been very busy. The kitties have been fighting and passing around an Upper Respiratory Infection almost all summer. They are still fighting it. It is hardest on Maggie who has Cancer and Kissee Kat who is diabetic and blind. She refuses to use a cat litter box so we have gotten her to use puppy pads. She does pretty well with this except for missing to paper a bit sometimes as she can't see it. The puppy pads are a bit costly but it saves the carpet. Our big dog is having his usual sensitive tummy issues so he is on a very limited specialized diet. Anything else and he is sick for days. Merlin has not found us anymore baby birds. It is time for all the kitties to get their shots for the coming year. One of our Seniors has a kitty who is epileptic, he has been to the veterinarian quite a lot lately and we have been helping her with those expenses. We are praying he gets better as she is very attached to him. We are also trying to get ready for our upcoming Christmas and Holiday cards sales. We are hoping this year is better then last year as sales are pretty slow because of the economy. Well, it is time to clean bedding, cat boxes, dogs, food bowls, and floors. Then time for feeding them all again. No days off here in rescue. |
Critter Updates

Folks, just a quick post to say hello. We are still seeking donations to help care for all of our many critters. As most of our long term residents are special needs for various reasons; medical, age, temperament, or behavioral they also come with special costs. Our blind kitty who is diabetic refuses to use the litter box, but after many different trials of different ways to solve her problem we have finally taught her to use puppy pads for her litter box. Expensive, but way better then the carpets or floor. Maggie is our kitty with cancer, her information is here on our website, she is on meds and blood tests etc. but holding her own. Our big dog has serious dietary issues so needs a very specialized diet so he will stay healthy and keep his food down and digested. Any deviation from this and he gets almost instantly sick. Our other big dog is very old so she eats mostly wet food and just a tiny bit of moistened kibble. Our Merlin also gets a special diet to manage his weight and still allow him to eat as much as he should. so, we spend a lot of time and considerable expense making sure each one of our long term residents gets exactly what they need. They have a forever home here where we make all the accommodations necessary to be sue they have a fantastic life for as long as they have. Well, kitties are thinking they need to be feed in the middle of the night so must close for now. Soon another day will begin full of many chores. |
Update on the Critters and our Seniors

We are still trying to come up with the funds needed to pay our May and now June veterinary bills. Due to the continued bad economy our donations are way down. We have however received some very helpful and unusual donations. One was a gift card to be used in a drawing to help promote more donations for us. Another was a gift of advertising for our Facebook page also in hopes of helping us receive more exposure and donations. These were very creative gifts which were really innovative and much appreciated. We also have received several checks in lieu of Pay Pal donations which we deposited in our Last Chance Critter Rescue bank account to help with the veterinary bills. Maggie our kitty with cancer, more about her on our website; is doing ok. Kissee Kat her baby and our diabetic kitty gets her meds daily and she is doing well. Currently we have Nine resident kitties and three feral kitties we care for daily. Then we have two big dogs who also reside here. One elderly who requires a special diet. Our seniors now consist of one gentleman with a dog named Bear, a senior lady with a kitty that has seizures so requires medical care, a senior lady with three ten plus year old kitties she rescued, and a senior lady with a little dog she takes everywhere . We are still committed to helping these Seniors with their pets so they can continue to keep them. Well, duty calls in the form of feeding, meds, cat boxes and laundry to clean bedding and such. Will check back later. |
New Ideas

We have an exciting new idea presented by one of our volunteers. They have donated a $ 50.00 gift card which they want us to use in a drawing on 30th of June the entry into this drawing is a donation of $ 25.00 or more. All folks donating that amount in May or June will be entered into this drawing. We have not had many entries yet so your chances of winning are pretty good. The critters are doing well, even the special medical needs kitties. As long as they get their medical care they are able to do well. We need to get to cleaning out kitty boxes, puppy pads, and then onto feeding all the critters. Seems like the chores are never done. |
Our long delayed update

Folks, It has been quite a while since we have posted. The critters keep us very busy. Some of our best volunteers have had to cut back on their time with us due to their own personal needs. So, we are even more pressed for any free time. Maggie is still hanging in there and you can read more about her condition in the About Us section of our website. We are still in need of funds for all our special medical needs kitties. We still have our program to help our Seniors with their food and medical needs. We spend a lot of money on veterinary bills and food the rest we spend on more of the same. We are still hoping for a large kennel area for our big dogs when funds allow. We would also like to thank the person who donated the $ 100.00 Costco gift card. We were able to use it for our kitty litter purchases and it really helped us out a lot. We also really appreciated the Petsmart gift cards as they were used for food and more puppy pads for our blind kitty. Thank you all for your prayers and donations they are greatly appreciated by the critters. |
Happy Spring & A Thank You to All

Hello folks! We have made it through the worst of the winter weather and with Spring here we are beginning some needed improvements as money and time allow. All our critters are getting their ongoing veterinary care as each requires. Because we take in many animals that would be unadoptable for health or behavior reasons our costs are even higher to keep them all healthy and thriving. I want to be sure to thank everyone who has helped us with this endeavor. Each donation or gift card for pet food is very much appreciated and always needed. Because of your generosity we are able to continue to care for all the animals we have committed to. Our Senior Save A Pet outreach had also been able to help Seniors keep their pets by providing them with pet food and veterinary care for their animals. As these folks are Seniors many of them have Senior pets who require special diets or more extensive veterinarian care which Seniors on a fixed income are unable to afford on their own. So, your donations help us help them with their pets too. Well, must get back to the chores around here as they are never ending. |
Busy days

Our black feral kitty is still pretty wild, but is getting veterinarian care. He is still pretty wary of most people, but will let us touch him gently for brief periods. Slowly we will build his trust in people. We have great hopes that he will become a companion animal some day and maybe find his forever home when it is time. We have good news too. Our feral kitty Brianna who has been with us almost three years now is finally tame enough that she got a new forever home with a loving Senior couple and their adult daughter. They are great folks and true animal lovers so she will get lots of love and wonderful care with them. It was so worth it to see how much they love her. We try to always work toward the long term rehabilitation of our feral kitties so that they can find loving homes with caring people. So far so good we have never had one returned or any trouble with the ones we find forever homes for. Thank all for your prayers, help with the critters, and donations to keep us open so we can help more critters. Will post back when time allows. We have had two senior volunteers have medical issues that has prevented them from helping out as they use to. Makes for lots more work, but always worth it. |
New Year's Update

Folk, we made it to 2013. Things are hectic here with the cold weather as we have lots of critter bedding to clean. That and the critters stay indoors more to avoid the cold weather. We did not quite meet our financial goals for last year. Still have to make good on our veterinary bill as we promised. Facebook makes it much harder for us to reach our Fans and to find new friends as they are trying very hard to do everything for profit with a eye on any way to make money off of the folks who depend on it to reach out to people. They even advise you if they feel you are posting too much on your own pages. Anyway all here is ok and the critters are getting by. Maggie is still sick, but holding her own. Cleo seems much better and is due for a follow up in about another week. We will post again as time allows. Happy New Year to all. |

We are busy getting the critters all settled with the cold winter weather. It has been a busy year and we have been updating more via Facebook and the websites rather than writing here. It takes a lot of time to write and our volunteer who used to do this part has been sick and swamped when she is here. So we will seldom post here, but check out our Facebook page for the most current information and updates. Thanks for visiting. |
Cards are everywhere around our rescue

This post is just to check in for a second. We are really busy now trying to keep our website updated with fresh content, creating our handmade Christmas cards and the daily chores taking care of the critters. We are also trying to help our local shelter a bit. We are still working with our Seniors to keep them supplied with food and make sure their vet appointments are made and that we can pay for it. Very busy, but wouldn't have it any other way. We are so glad we are getting card orders coming in. Sometimes only one a day, but that is at least something. We are hoping that folks will like our Christmas cards and order more of other types for future dates. We will make them for all Holidays and for get well, thank you, moving or all occasion as the requests come in. well, that is about all we have time for right now. Keep checking back we are constantly evolving. |
